First Aid

1. There should be trained first aid personnel and first aid equipment on each job. The number of people trained in first aid, the type and amounts of equipment necessary will depend on the job factors such as number of employees, nature of the work, and location of the job. A small job of short duration will have different requirements than a large job of long duration or a job in a remote location.

2. CPR and First Aid training shall be periodically refreshed to maintain the skills that are required. Your certification must be from the American Red Cross or an equivalent provider.

3. Obtain first aid for every injury no matter how minor it might be. Neglecting a cut or scratch will encourage infection. Wounds that do not bleed, such as puncture wounds, are often the first to become infected.

4. A complete and proper first-aid kit and bloodborne pathogen kit must be on all job sites. Kits must be kept up to date and maintained. Eye wash stations must be equipped in areas that have chemicals or meet the standards.

5. All jobs must have emergency telephone numbers posted near the telephone.
